What is a printing plate
It is a "sheet" of rubber/silicone from which the customer's motif protrudes. These plates can be used repeatedly, so we only charge the customer for their production once. However, the appearance of the motif can no longer be changed in any way (size, adding elements...). With every change in the motif, a new plate must be produced.
An already produced plate can be used in another order with a different bag size. The customer must count on the fact that the motif can no longer be modified in any way. When ordering prints, customers are always sent previews for approval. Any changes to motifs and production of a new plate is then consulted again.
How much will a plate cost you?
The price depends on the size of the motif area. First, it is necessary to provide print data in vectors (see article print data) and select a bag. We immediately send you a preview with the motif placed on the bag for approval. After approval, we know what size the motif is and can calculate the final price for the plate.
Plate production
A quality plate requires special technology with precise production procedures. We therefore produce plates at our partner, who is a specialist in prepress preparation and has Agfa brand technology, a leader in its field. We produce plates in proven thicknesses and from materials that allow us to print through bag folds.
For better ink yield, the plate is equipped with a special surface treatment on the printing relief, which supports the transfer of a larger amount of ink to the bag.
With two-color printing, each color has its own plate. It is necessary to separate the motif, similar to silkscreen (see article print preparation) and produce two plates.
